Gallopalooza unveils 150 new horse statues; Here's where you can find them

All 150 horses will eventually be placed throughout Louisville, dotting the city's sidewalks and greenspaces.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's favorite horse statues have returned in a big way; Gallopalooza unveiled 150 new horse statues this spring and they're all currently in one big space.

Eventually the horses will dot the city's sidewalks, business entrances and green spaces as part of the city's beautification program.

But for March 23 and March 24 only, you can see time all at the famous horse track, Churchill Downs. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Even some of the artists will be there to answer questions about their creations and give context to their work.

One artist showed WHAS11 News his horse, which he called a representation of Louisville. It featured a fleur-de-lis, famous people from Louisville and even the iconic bridges that connect Louisville and southern Indiana.

"My main goal was to represent symbolic figures of Louisville and Kentuckiana and I wanted to include figures from our city that were worldwide -- like Muhammad Ali," artist Enrique 'Rique' Santiago said.

It's a family friendly event that includes a scavenger hunt, a coloring contest and the opportunity to vote for your favorite statue.

All you need to get in is a pegasus pin.
