LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A horse was officially scratched from the 150th running of the Kentucky Oaks, the day before the historic race takes place.
Churchill Downs announced Thursday Tapit Jeanallie's trainer, Eddie Milligan Jr., was pulling the horse out of Friday's race.
Milligan said the fill has a slight injury on her back end. He first noticed something was off a few days ago, but the situation didn't clear up.
Tapit Jeanallie had 30-1 odds to win the Oaks.
That means Our Pretty Woman was moved into the 14 horse field.
She's owned by Cortlandt farm, and trained by Steve Asmussen, who has Track Phantom in the Derby.
Asmussen is one of the winningest trainers in North America, but hasn't won the Kentucky Oaks since 2014.
When asked if he was hoping a horse would drop out, he said you "just prepare to run."
Those things handle themselves," Asmussen said. "And if it's meant to be you'll be in there. And that's who it works every year."
Our Pretty Woman will run at 15 to 1 odds.
