BALTIMORE — The second race of the Triple Crown series kicks off Saturday with the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes.
The horse race is always held on the third Saturday in May at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mystik Dan won the Kentucky Derby in an astounding photo finish. He is now looking for back-to-back Triple Crown victories when he takes on the other seven horses. He would be the first to win both the Derby and the Preakness since Justify in 2018.
The 149th Preakness Stakes post time is approximately 6:50 p.m. ET.

In 2023, Bob Baffert's National Treasure won the Preakness Stakes.
The total purse this year is $2 million.
This will be the last Preakness at the Pimlico Race Course until 2027. Demolition is scheduled to start early next year so they can rebuild the course. The 150th running in 2025 will take place at the track during construction before moving to Laurel Park in 2026.
