LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For Mike and Jani Thomas this week is a dream come true.
They are hoping the pro golfer can capture the Wanamaker Trophy for a third time in the PGA Championship but here in his hometown.
"I think we're excited. I know we're excited, but I'm probably more nervous than normal," Jani said.
The Thomas’s said they have a lot of great memories at Valhalla and they are feeling the support from the community.
Jani recalls how she used to drive Justin around at many of the junior tournaments when he was growing up.
“When we got here this morning, the first thing I thought about is the other PGA championships in the Ryder Cup. Justin being at that age that he wanted to be here all day every day, and I just would come out and like ‘Okay, you go run, I'll meet you here. Okay, you go run some more.’ And I mean, he couldn't have enough of it," she said.
Mike is Justin's swing coach and being at Valhalla is nice, but they have a job to do.
"We'll just be focusing. What kind of shape is your game in and what do we need to do? [We will] do the work that we can do and then the rest of it's really out of my hands and I'm just a spectator,” he said.
It's pretty clear this family and this week are the hottest ticket in town.
"[It’s a] tough week for ticket requests – real tough week."
