LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fresh off his win against Louisville in the Governor’s Cup on Saturday, Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops confirmed he won’t be leaving for another team.

In a social media post, Stoops said he “was contacted about a potential opportunity this weekend” but after celebrating that win he knew in his heart he “couldn’t leave the University of Kentucky right now.”

"I have a great job at a place I love, and I get to work with the best administration and greatest fan base in college football right where I’m at," he wrote. "I’m excited to say I’m a Wildcat!"

Stoops has been the head coach for the Cats for 11 seasons with a 72 and 64 overall record at the university.

Back in 2022, he signed a deal worth $9 million that ties him to Lexington through June 2031.
