This past December, Pruett announced she was stepping out of the car to focus on starting a family. Stewart replaced his wife in the car for the 2024 season.

Pruett told the Associated Press she suffers from Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune disorder that prevents her thyroid from producing enough hormones. She was unsure how her condition will affect her attempt to get pregnant.

“This is an incredibly personal decision, and what led to making this decision are other personal situations that have happened in my life and our lives,” Pruett told AP in an interview with Stewart.

Stewart and Pruett started dating in the early stages of the pandemic, which eventually led to him creating an NHRA race team and getting behind the wheel of a dragster. He got his license and raced in the second-tier Top Alcohol class in 2023, finishing 21 points shy of winning the title.

The couple was married in 2021.
