Louisville's Skyy Clark to enter transfer portal

Clark is the latest Cardinal to announce his intentions after the firing of coach Kenny Payne on March 13.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It has been an interesting two weeks for the University of Louisville men’s basketball program.

Athletic director had announced coach Kenny Payne’s firing on March 13, following two disappointing seasons.

With Payne’s exit, another Cardinal standout is looking to take his talents elsewhere.

Skyy Clark told On3, a college sports website, he plans to enter the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-3 sophomore said he was appreciative for the experience and the Louisville Cardinals trust in him as a leader.

Clark said under Payne, he “grew both as a player and a person.”

He went on to explain he wanted to keep his options open as Louisville searches for another head coach. However, Clark did say he would be “maintaining an open line of communication” with the Cards in regard to a potential return.

“I’m forever grateful for #CardNation,” he said.

Clark averaged 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during the 2023-24 season.

Other Cardinals entering the portal include junior guard Koron Davis, freshman center Dennis Evans, freshman forward Kaleb Glenn, sophomore forward Danilo Jovanovich, senior forward J.J. Traynor, freshman guard Curtis Williams.
