LOUISVILLE – ESPNW listed the top 25 players in the country today and coming in at No. 2 is University of Louisville senior guard Asia Durr.
"Durr will be among the top picks in the WNBA draft next spring, but her game is pro-ready right now. Facing the basket with the ball in her hand, no player in the country is more explosive. She can beat opponents by herself. Durr can score in every way imaginable, from a blistering left-handed drive to a smooth midrange game to seemingly unlimited range. Coach Jeff Walz might play Durr at the point more frequently this season to help get her better prepared for the WNBA (and to keep the ball in her hand). Nothing should scare opposing defenses more." -- Charlie Creme via ESPNW
Durr was named 2017-18 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and has appeared on several publications' preseason All-American teams.
She opened the season by scoring the Cards' first 11 points on Tuesday night at Western Kentucky and finished with a team-high 33 to set UofL's all-time record for points in an opener. She scored her 33 points in just 21 minutes, shooting 12-21 from the floor and 7-15 from 3-point range.
In addition, ESPNW picked Louisville fourth in its preseason poll.
After opening the season with a 102-80 win at Western Kentucky, the Cardinals remain away from home for their next four games. They open at home against Miami (Ohio) on Monday, Nov. 26.
