LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The United States won more medals than any other nation at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky had a lot to do with Team USA's success.

A dozen athletes with ties to the Bluegrass State helped the U.S. earn a medal in 10 events; six gold, two silver and two bronze. Team USA ended the Games with 126 medals -- 35 more than China in second place.

Here are the Kentucky athletes who left Paris with a medal around their neck:

Anthony Davis, Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo

This trio of Kentucky Wildcats helped the U.S. win a fifth consecutive gold medal in men's 5x5 basketball.

Booker averaged 11.7 points a game for the Americans and scored 15 in the gold medal game against France. Davis averaged 8.3 points and Adebayo added six.

Booker played 22 minutes a game, fourth-most on the team.

It was the second gold for all three.

Holmes, also a former Wildcat, competed on the 4x400 relay team alongside McLaughlin-Levrone.

Yared Nuguse

Nuguse, a graduate of Louisville's Manual High School, finished third in the men's 1500 meters. Teammate Cole Hocker won gold, marking the first time in 112 years two Americans medaled in the event.

Nuguse powered his way to the front of pack in the final 100 meters. Former teachers and coaches celebrated at a watch party held at Manual.
