LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Animals in rural Kentucky will be getting some extra help from the Kentucky Humane Society thanks to a $1.2 million grant.

With the grant from the Water-Shed Animal Fund, the Humane Society plans to launch a three-year pilot project called Love 120.

The goal is to help animals in all 120 counties in Kentucky over the next ten years. They want to reduce overcrowding in shelters, provide access to spay and neuter surgeries, and improve the health of those animals in shelters.

The Humane Society expects more than 8,700 animals will be impacted over the next three years.
