LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky police are investigating after a driver ran over a pedestrian with their car Monday night in Nelson County. The pedestrian sadly died at the scene.

At about 10:45 p.m., Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian near the 4000 block of Louisville Road (US 150) just north of Bardstown, according to a KSP news release.

Investigators believe the driver of a 2014 KIA Forte was traveling northbound on Louisville Road before striking a pedestrian with their vehicle.

According to KSP officials, the driver of the KIA Forte failed to observe the pedestrian walking in the northbound lane. The pedestrian was later identified as Matt Berry, 23, of Bardstown.

KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office, Nelson Co. EMS and the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. John Goldsborough.
