Sherman Minton upper deck reopens after semi flips over

Louisville Metro Emergency Services said the upper deck of the bridge will be shut down due to the overturned semi.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 64 is shut down the upper deck of the Sherman Minton bridge for several hours Thursday night into Friday morning. 

According to TRIMARC, two vehicles crashed on I-64 West approaching the Sherman Minton Bridge. The right lane and the right shoulder were blocked.

The scene was cleared early Friday morning and the bridge reopened about 1:30 a.m.

Metrosafe confirmed it is an injury accident. It's unclear how many people were injured and the severity of their injuries.

Louisville Metro Emergency Services said the upper deck of the bridge was shut down due to the overturned semi, and that traffic was diverted to the lower deck.
