ISP: Southern Indiana crash sends 3 to hospital

It started when Indiana State Police Trooper Clay Boley saw a white Chevrolet Blazer make an "unsafe lane movement" on US 31 near Lewis and Clark Parkway.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is in custody after a high-speed chase on Thursday ended in a fiery blaze and with three people sent to the hospital.

In a post on social media, around noon on Wednesday, Indiana State Police Trooper Clay Boley saw a white Chevrolet Blazer driving on US 31 near Lewis and Clark Parkway. Boley noticed it because it had made an "unsafe lane movement."

Investigators said he followed behind as the Blazer kept going, and noticed the plates were expired. 

The driver, 50-year-old Jason Arbuckle of Branchville, Indiana, sped away as authorities said Boley tried to stop the Blazer.

The chase reached nearly 100 mph along US 31 headed northbound ISP said.

As the chase continued, authorities said the Blazer disregarded a stoplight and hit a blue 1993 Ford pickup truck before stopping in a grassy area and catching fire.

Boley got Arbuckle out of the burning vehicle through the passenger side window before the Blazer was engulfed ISP said.

All three were taken to a Louisville hospital with non-life threatening injuries investigators said. After being released from the hospital, Louisville Metro Police officers took Arbuckle into custody.

During the investigation, police found out Arbuckle was wanted for a parole violation. He's also been charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle causing injury, criminal recklessness, driving while suspended causing injury, possession of methamphetamine and reckless driving causing injury.
