LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville drivers are enjoying relief at the pump for the second week in a row.
Average gasoline prices in Louisville have gone down 11.6 cents per gallon last week, averaging $2.82 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 644 stations across Louisville.
The prices are 12.5 cents per gallon lower compared to a month ago and are 40.1 cents lower compared to a year ago. The cheapest station in Louisville on Sunday was about $2.49 a gallon, while the most expensive was priced at $3.59.
The national average has fallen about 5.3 cents per gallon last week to $3.07. The national average for diesel fuel has fallen 2.6 cents to $3.54.
"The national average price of gasoline has continued its decline over the last week as oil prices have sunk due to Israel avoiding attacks on Iran's oil infrastructure, and seasonal decreases in demand are pushing gasoline lower, as is normal for this time of year. In addition to gasoline prices falling to their lowest level since January, the average price of diesel has now fallen to its lowest level in over three years, "Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said.
"While many Americans may incorrectly credit the upcoming election for the declines, politicians have little influence over the strong seasonal forces that drive prices lower in autumn. With winter gasoline soon to reach the rest of California, and demand continuing to decline as Americans grapple with colder weather, the drop in demand is pushing gas prices down—not politicians on either side, as much as they might like to think they do. I expect the decline in gas prices will continue into and even beyond the upcoming election."
Statewide, the lowest price on Sunday was $2.33 while the highest was about $3.59.
