LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville drivers rejoice! Gas prices in the area dropped for the seventh week in a row.
Average gasoline prices in Louisville have gone down 15.1 cents per gallon last week, averaging $2.87 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 644 stations across Louisville.
Kentucky gas prices are 39 cents lower per gallon compared to a month ago and are 71.3 cents lower compared to a year ago. The cheapest station statewide on Sunday was about $2.38 a gallon, while the most expensive was priced at $3.79.
The national average has fallen about 6.9 cents per gallon last week to $3.15. The national average for diesel fuel has fallen 3.4 cents to $3.57, the lowest level since January 2022.
"Gasoline prices continue to crumble across nearly the entire nation, with average prices below $3 per gallon in 18 states, with some 65,000 stations selling below that psychological mark. Diesel prices are also falling and are at their lowest level in nearly 1,000 days," Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said.
"With the change to winter gasoline happening today at most stations across the country, the outlook is bright for the national average to continue to make a run at falling to $2.99 per gallon for the first time since 2021. But while nearly all states are seeing prices drop, refinery maintenance and some outages at California refineries have led to tight supply and rising prices—a situation I hope can be remedied by the end of the month and help California join in on the decline."
