LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A major expressway in Louisville was shutdown for several hours Friday morning after a woman was struck in the roadway.
At about 7:40 a.m., MetroSafe received a call reporting a pedestrian struck on I-264 East near I-64 and Shelbyville Road, according to an LMPD news release.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene and found a woman who had been hit by at least one car. That vehicle stopped and called 911.
Authorites say it is unknown why the woman was in the roadway at the time of the incident and if any additional vehicles were involved.
EMS transported the woman to UofL Hospital where officials say they expect her to survive.
LMPD is handling this investigation.
I-264 East was blocked off for about an hour. By 9 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
