JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A major southern Indiana interstate is open after a shutdown Wednesday morning when a semi-truck hauling approximately 70,000 pounds of ice cream overturned.

The eastbound lanes of I-265 were closed for several hours at the 7.6 mile marker in Jeffersonville due to the overturned semi-truck. The roadway reopened at about 6 a.m.

According to a social media post from Indiana State Police - Sellersburg, this is not the first time officials had to close I-265 due to a truck hauling lactose product overturning.

ISP Sergeant Carey Huls said the interstate was shutdown prior to this incident when a semi-truck hauling cheese overturned. Shortly after crews cleaned up the scene, a semi-truck full of ice cream overturned on the same interstate.

As of 6 a.m., all lanes of I-265 East are open and both semi-trucks have been cleared out.
