LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two drivers are dead after a fiery crash on I-265 West Monday morning in Louisville.

At about 3:40 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a vehicle collision on I-265 westbound just past the Preston Highway exit ramps, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe the driver of a pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes for "some unknown reason" when they struck a second pickup truck head-on.

The second pickup truck, driven by an adult man, was traveling westbound in the westbound lanes of I-265 at the time of the collision, according to the news release.

The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to catch fire. EMS and Okolona Fire responded quickly to the scene and extinguished the flames. Unfortunately, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
