I-64 West near Simpsonville reopens after hours-long closure due to wreck

Authorities said no injuries were reported in the crash.

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. — A portion of I-64 was closed for several hours after a crash near Simpsonville early Thursday afternoon.

TRIMARC originally had all lanes of I-64 West near Clark Station Road in Shelby County closed for at least two hours after a two-vehicle crash around 11:30 a.m. Officials then opened one lane of traffic to vehicles before blocking off all lanes again so crews could remove vehicles involved in the crash.

A traffic camera also showed crews working to repair a large digital sign above the interstate.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirmed there were no injuries in the crash.

Allen Blair with the Kentucky Department of Transportation said an overhead message board was hit in the crash, and as a precaution, emergency responders stopped traffic to inspect it.
