LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting involving their troopers that shut down part of Interstate 64 for several hours.

A release from KSP says it started when troopers tried to stop a car on I-64 in Woodford County.

Instead of stopping, KSP says the driver led them on a chase through Woodford County and into Franklin County, then into Shelby County, and back into Franklin County near the Graefenburg exit.

During the chase, police say the driver shot at officers.

When the chase ended, police say officers from multiple departments began firing at the driver, striking them an unknown number of times. The driver was transported to the hospital, KSP said. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Traffic was rerouted while officers investigated the scene.
