LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Before, Kentuckians would have to take their driving tests at places like Bowman Field.
Now, every Kentuckian wanting to take their driving test will be able to do it at any Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Driver Licensing Regional Office according to a press release.
House Bill 453 passed licensing services to KYTC in March 2020 meaning the cabinet is the only issuer of the driver and operator licenses including the REAL ID.
Gov. Andy Beshear said he appreciated both the Kentucky State Police and KYTC working to expand licensing services statewide.
“Now that residents can make an appointment at any regional office, our Kentucky families have expanded access to the services they need, making it easier for them to take a written or skills drivers test and obtain a license at one location in one day,” Beshear said.
KSP’s Commander of Driver Testing Capt. Marshall Johnson says some of the benefits are the increased availability and flexibility for scheduling appointments.
New drivers are encouraged to read the Kentucky driver’s manual according to the release.
Appointments are available on weekdays and can be made online. New appointments will be posted daily at 8 a.m. Johnson said.
