LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Heads up drivers, more lane restrictions and directional closures are scheduled around Jefferson County in July and August.

Sherman Minton Renewal spokesperson Andrea Brady said starting July 19 at 8 p.m. until July 20 at 1 p.m., there will be at minimum one eastbound lane open on the Sherman Minton Bridge.

Additionally, the westbound lanes, which go from Kentucky to Indiana, will be closed on July 19 around 10 p.m. until July 22 at 6 a.m. Brady said. If it is delayed for any reason, it will be tentatively scheduled for the next weekend. The Spring Street exit ramp will also be closed.

More westbound lane restrictions are also scheduled starting July 26 at 8 p.m. until July 27 at 1 p.m.; Brady said there will at least be one lane open. The Watterson Expressway westbound ramp to I-64 will be closed too.

However, a 9-day closure is scheduled for next month; all westbound lanes will be closed Aug. 5 around 5 a.m. and reopened on Aug. 14 around 5 a.m. according to Brady. During that closure, the exit ramp to Elm Street and the I-264 westbound to I-64 westbound ramps will be closed. It was originally scheduled for Aug. 2 through Aug. 11.

These restrictions and closures were designed to allow crews to continue cable hanger work, add permanent striping among other things.

Metro Public Works also wanted to warn the public that starting on Saturday, River Road will be closed at the railroad crossing between Edith Road and Frankfort Avenue. It will be closed until Monday so crews can replace the railroad. Detour signs will be posted around the area.

Additionally, the ramp from Interstate 71 to KY 329 (Exit 14) will be closed starting on Friday at 8 p.m. so crews can do concrete work according to I-Move Kentucky spokesperson Shayla Lohman. It will last until 6 a.m. on Monday.

I-Move Kentucky contractors will also reduce I-265 North to one lane over Shelbyville Road so they can do some bridge maintenance Lowman said. This will also last from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
