LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A motorcyclist is in the hospital in critical condition after a crash that happened in the Russell neighborhood Friday afternoon.
According to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD), officers were called to the intersection of 18th Street and West Muhammad Ali Boulevard shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Investigators found through their preliminary investigation and witness statements that a truck and motorcyclist were traveling west on Muhammad Ali in different lanes. However, for some unknown reason, the truck tried to make a left turn from the right lane and ended up hitting the motorcycle in the left lane.
As a result, the motorcyclist was thrown off the motorcycle authorities said. The bike kept going and hit the front door of a nearby business.
First responders transported the motorcyclist to the hospital with critical injuries; police said they were not wearing a helmet.
The truck driver and passenger were not injured in the crash, and no one was hurt inside the business LMPD said.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
