Coroner identifies motorcyclist that died after crash on I-71

Police said a group of motorcyclists was traveling on I-71 when one of the riders lost control of his bike and was killed.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A motorcyclist is dead after crashing on Interstate 71 on Thursday.

According to Louisville Metro Police, they responded to a report of a collision around 6:15 p.m. on I-71 northbound near the Watterson Expressway.

Police said a group of motorcyclists was traveling on I-71 when one of the riders, 35-year-old Cody Toler, lost control of his bike and was killed.

Toler was wearing a helmet according to police. LMPD added several of the other riders stayed at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved police said.

No charges are expected and I-71 has opened back up after being closed for about an hour and a half according to police.
