Frankfort Avenue opens 11 days ahead of schedule

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Water Company opened Frankfort Avenue 11 days ahead of schedule Thursday. They were supposed to reopen the street on Aug. 22.

According to a press release, they reopened the road to two-way traffic just after 5 p.m. and currently one lane is open in each direction.

The Water Company has been working on the project for nearly a year. They were replacing water mains near the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant.

The new water mains will provide more supply lines and flexibility to move and reroute water according to the release.

The project will also add new sidewalks and trees in the area, and that is supposed to be done by the end of October.

The Louisville Water company noted Reservoir Avenue is still closed but is expected to reopen by the end of September. People living in the area who use the Crescent Hill Reservoir, Mary T. Meagher Pool and the Crescent Hill Golf Course will be able to get to Brownsboro Road.
