Coroner identifies 55-year-old man killed in fatal collision on Louisville interstate ramp

A man was driving on I-264 East when he took the ramp toward I-65 South and lost control of his vehicle, authorities say.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man was killed in a deadly collision on an interstate ramp Tuesday morning in Louisville.

At about 2 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a single-vehicle collision at the Watterson Expressway eastbound near I-65, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe a vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-264 when the driver, later identified as 55-year-old Marcus Reed, took the ramp toward I-65 South and "for some unknown reason" failed to handle the curve on the ramp.

Authorities say Reed lost control of the vehicle, drove off the roadway and was ultimately ejected from the vehicle. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, officials say. LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigating which is ongoing.
