LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is critically injured after he was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning on Dixie Highway.
At about 5:50 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a report of a pedestrian getting hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Blanton Lane, according to an LMPD news release.
Investigators believe the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Dixie Highway when a man attempted to cross Dixie Highway, not using the crosswalk at the location, and was struck by the pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck immediately stopped and called 911 for assistance. EMS and PRP Fire responded to the scene.
EMS transported the victim who was unconscious to UofL Hospital with "critical" injuries, authorities said.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and police say they were very cooperative. No charges are expected.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
