2 pedestrians killed when hit by cars in Louisville Thursday morning; what we know

Thursday morning, a pedestrian was killed when they were hit by a car on the Clark Memorial Bridge and another pedestrian was struck and killed on I-64.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville police are investigating after two pedestrians were struck and killed Thursday morning. One was hit on the Clark Memorial Bridge and the other on I-64 near the I-65 ramp.

The bridge and ramp were closed for several hours. As of 9:30 a.m., both the Clark Memorial Bridge and the I-64 East ramp to I-65 North are open.

At about 6:20 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the Clark Memorial Bridge, according to an LMPD news release.

The coroner's office identified the woman as 38-year-old Aaron Nifong.

Investigators believe Nifong was walking in the roadway on the bridge when she was struck by a car and later died on the scene.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the collision. Authorities say all parties involved remained at the scene.

Pedestrian killed in crash on I-64 East

At about 7 a.m., LMPD responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on I-64 East at I-65, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe a man, later identified as 31-year-old Daniel Metheny-Rodriguez, Jr., was in the roadway of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The LMPD Traffic Unit it investigating the collision. Authorities say all parties involved remained at the scene.
