Pedestrian struck and killed on Fern Valley Road

A pedestrian was hit by a car in the Newburg area Friday morning. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed Friday morning on Fern Valley Road near I-65.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fern Valley Road was shut down Friday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed.

At about 6 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Fern Valley Road near I-65, according to an LMPD news release.

Officers found a woman in the roadway. Investigators believe she was crossing Fern Valley Road not in a crosswalk when car hit her.

She was pronounced dead on the scene, authorities say. The driver of the vehicle had minor injuries.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.

As of 8 a.m., there is one lane of eastbound traffic open on Fern Valley Road in the area of I-65 and Industrial Boulevard.
