LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police is investigating after a man was found shot inside his crashed car on Interstate 264 Thursday afternoon.
Police said a car was traveling east on I-264, otherwise known as the Watterson Expressway, when the driver somehow lost control of the car and flipped, hitting two other vehicles.
This happened near the Breckenridge Lane exit.
MetroSafe said this happened around 4:34 p.m., and the interstate was shut down around 4:46 p.m.
Investigators said no one in either of the vehicles struck by the flipped car were injured, but the driver in the flipped car had a fatal gunshot wound.
Several good Samaritans and first responders attempted to save the man, but he died at the scene.
The Homicide Unit has ruled this as a death investigation, and LMPD's Traffic Unit is assisting as well.
All lanes were reopened four hours later.
