LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two separate car crashes backed up traffic on different interstates Thursday night.

Louisville Metro Police's Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal crash that happened on the Watterson Expressway.

An LMPD spokesperson said a call came in about a crash on Watterson eastbound between Breckenridge Lane and the Browns Lane overpass at 9:38 p.m.

Their preliminary investigation showed a disabled tow truck was in the right-hand lane when Arthur Kyungsuk Kim, 46, clipped the truck with his vehicle, lost control and crashed his vehicle. It's unclear why he clipped the tow truck.

Police confirmed Kim died at the scene. The center and right-hand lanes were closed for hours following the crash.

TRIMARC confirmed another crash on the Gene Snyder blocked all lanes heading east towards National Turnpike. This crash involved two cars.

Dispatchers at MetroSafe said two people were transported to the hospital, but their conditions are unknown at this time.
