LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Police Department are investigating after a man died following a crash Sunday night.

According to arrest records, LMPD officers responded to the 5600 block of New Cut Road around 7:50 p.m.

Police said Shwe Tun, the driver of a 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV, tried to get on the road from the driveway of 5644 New Cut Road.

Afterward, police said Tun pulled up in front of a motorcyclist traveling southbound.

That motorcycle hit the back of the SUV and then slid about 100-feet before stopping.

EMS transported the motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old James Purvis, to UofL Health where he later died.

Police said officers had Tun do a field sobriety test because he "smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated."

Tun has been charged with murder and DUI.
