Driver suffers from burns after semi-truck crashes, bursts into flames police say

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said officers responded to a vehicle collision around 6:45 p.m. on I-264 near Taylorsville Road.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A semi-truck rolled onto its side and burst into flames Wednesday according to Louisville police.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said officers responded to a vehicle collision around 6:45 p.m. on the Watterson Expressway near Taylorsville Road.

Mitchell said the initial investigation showed where a passenger vehicle and the semi-truck were heading westbound on I-264.

According to Mitchell, witnesses said the driver of the passenger vehicle apparently cut in front of the semi. The semi then allegedly swerved and hit the concrete barrier, rolled onto its side and burst into flames.

He said the semi-driver was sent to University Hospital with burns but said he is expected to survive.

Mitchell said the driver of the passenger vehicle did not stay in the area.
