LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Westbound lanes of the Sherman Minton Bridge reopened Wednesday morning.
Sherman Minton Renewal Project spokesperson Andrea Brady said the reopening date was always intended to be Nov. 10, although the website originally listed the date as Tuesday, Nov. 9.
Construction is expected to pick up again this weekend. All eastbound lanes are scheduled to be closed from Friday, Nov. 12 at 10 p.m. until Monday, Nov. 15 at 5 a.m. This closure will allow crews to perform additional deck patching and set up equipment for future construction.
During the closure, the I-64E entrance ramp from West Spring Street will be closed along with the I-64E to I-264E ramp. Drivers heading east and not using I-265 will be required to exit onto West 5th St. in New Albany.
To avoid delays, drivers are encouraged to use I-65 and I-265 to drive from Indiana to Kentucky.
According to the renewal project website, the repairs, along with normal preventative maintenance, will add up to 30 years of life to the bridge.
