A new Westport Road right turn lane addition at Chamberlain Lane is planned in Louisville. According to Metro Public Works spokesperson Salvador Melendez, construction is supposed to start on March 20 and will take approximately four weeks to complete weather-permitting.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A newly planned right-turn lane in eastern Jefferson County aims to decrease delay times for drivers.

Metro Public Works spokesperson Salvador Melendez said the lane would be at the intersection of Westport Road and Chamberlain Lane. Construction is supposed to start March 20 weather permitting.

"This new right turn lane will serve eastbound traffic on Westport Road intending to complete a right turn to proceed southbound on Chamberlain Lane," he said.

Melendez added it would head west about 800 feet to the nearest Gene Snyder exit ramp.

By increasing the capacity of the intersection, Melendez said it's supposed to decrease delay times for drivers.

Westport Road eastbound lanes will remain open, but drivers exiting I-265 southbound onto Westport might experience delays during construction he said.

The project is expected to take about four weeks according to Melendez.
