LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The salt crews are out, in and around Metro Louisville Wednesday night.
Late Wednesday afternoon they laid out their plans for the overnight hours. Trucks were ready to hit the roads knowing what started as rain would soon turn into snow.
"Just be slow,” Metro Public Works Director Vanessa Burns warned. She hopes the message sticks as cars travel the roads. "You never know when it's going to potentially start freezing, so just assume that it's freezing and just try to be as careful and as slow as you can.”

You could say folks WHAS 11 caught up with before the University of Louisville basketball game Wednesday are the hardiest of Cards fans.
Even with the changeover to snow forecast to happen while they were inside the Yum Center, they still couldn't pass on the chance to see their favorite team.
"I'm from Michigan, so I'm not really afraid of the weather,” Justin Gorr said. “You know you gotta support the team - L's up."
WHAS 11 also spoke to a group from Canada and let the snow experts give their advice.
"No accelerating quickly and no slowing down quickly,” Jared Goldberg said.
Ty Greenburg said to drive nice and easy.
"Just stay confident,” Pete Rosenthal said. “Remember, you're driving the car. The car's not driving you."
Southern Indiana
For the past couple of snow events, Southern Indiana has been mostly untouched. The great snow dividing line stopped there, so WHAS 11 paid our neighbors a visit.
"We're actually definitely a centerpiece of this area around here so we're always going to be here with hot pizza and cold beer available,” Amber Cramer, assistant general manager at Parlour Pizza Jeffersonville, said.
She said the weather makes no difference.
"Whether we have snow or rain, people are going to show up,” Cramer said.
And whether you're a pizza lover, or a Cards fan, snow crews will do all they can so you can get there safely.
However, they ask that you remember to do your part by slowing down and being patient with crews as they salt the roads.
