National Weather Service issues wind chill advisory for portions of Kentuckiana

The National Weather Service has announced a wind chill advisory in effect until Sunday morning. Here are the cities under advisory.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A wind chill advisory has been issued for parts of the WHAS11 viewing area until 11 a.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has announced a wind chill advisory in effect until 11:00 a.m. Sunday for portions of south central Indiana and north central/northwest Kentucky.

The cities under this advisory are:

  • Paoli
  • Salem
  • Scottsburg
  • Madison
  • Jasper
  • English
  • Tell City
  • Corydon
  • New Albany
  • Jeffersonville
  • Lewisport
  • Hawesville
  • Hardinsburg
  • Brandenburg
  • Louisville
  • La Grange 
  • Bedford
  • Milton
  • New Castle

A wind chill advisory means very cold wind chills are expected with wind chills around 10 below zero to as low as 15 below zero.

According to NWS, the cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Weather experts urge you to use caution while traveling outside and to bundle up by wearing a coat, hat, gloves, etc.
