LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A tornado watch has been issued for parts of the WHAS11 viewing area until 12 a.m.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has announced a Tornado Watch in effect until 12:00 A.M. Sunday for the Kentucky counties of Adair, Marion & Taylor. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms, capable of producing tornadoes. Have a plan and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued for your area.
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 8:00 PM tonight for the Kentucky counties of Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart & Larue.
According to NWS, severe weather is expected to move across south central Indiana, east central Kentucky, north central Kentucky, northwest Kentucky, and south central Kentucky.
NWS said a strong weather system will move through the areas listed above on Saturday. There will be widespread rain showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected Saturday afternoon and evening.
According to NWS, some of the storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds being the main threat. NWS added that an isolated tornado can not be ruled out, especially across southern Kentucky. NWS said the highest risk of severe weather will be across central Kentucky, and storms will move from southwest to northeast between 40 and 50 mph.
