LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With wind gusts exceeding 45 miles per hour Sunday afternoon, power outages and potential damage may be expected locally.
According to LG&E's Stormcenter, the Louisville gas and electric provider's power outage interactive map, around 4,450 homes are without power heading into Sunday afternoon.
WHAS11 Meteorologist Reed Yadon reported that wind gusts were just at 46 mph at Muhammad Ali International Airport at Noon.
Although wind speeds are expected to slowly diminish over the course of the afternoon, still be advised to make necessary precautions. This kind of wind can bring down tree branches and send trash cans and patio furniture flying.
According to MetroSafe, a tree fell into the roadway in the 3900 block of Farmview Ave in Buechel Sunday morning.
On the roadways, high profile vehicles should be cautious while on the road. Even regular cars may be pushed a bit by a strong gust.
Wind gusts are expected to be strongest between around 1 a.m. to 7 p.m.
