What to do with storm debris in Jefferson County

The Department of Public Works spokesperson Salvador Melendez said trees will be composted so they must be separate from other debris.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — People living in Jefferson County can drop off debris from Wednesday's tornadoes at specific locations.

The Department of Public Works spokesperson Salvador Melendez said trees will be composted so they must be separate from other debris, and "Household hazardous waste will not be accepted."

Melendez said yard waste set out for curbside pickup must follow regular guidelines.

Drop-off sites and hours:

  • Public Works Yard, 10500 Lower River Road (enter from Bethany Lane)
  • Charlie Vettiner Park, 5550 Charlie Vettiner Park Road (by disc golf course)
  • Fern Creek Park, 8703 Ferndale Road
  • Highview Park, 7120 Briscoe Lane
  • Waste Reduction Center, 636 Meriwether Avenue

This collection will run from April 15 – April 30 or longer if deemed necessary from Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
