A violent and destructive tornado took a path nearly 50 miles long through downtown Nashville and its surrounding suburbs around 1:50 a.m., according to WHAS11 meteorologist Kaitlynn Fish.
Fish says that it would be tantamount to a tornado moving from downtown Louisville all the way to Frankfort in the middle of the night, while thousands are asleep.
So far more than 20 people have been killed as a result of the tornado. The number of deaths could increase.
Stats show nighttime tornadoes are more than twice as deadly as those that occur during daylight.
