A Tornado Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for Adair, Franklin, Grayson, Green, Hart, Larue, Marion, Nelson, Taylor and Washington Counties in Kentucky.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms, capable of producing tornadoes. Have a plan and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued for your area.

Severe weather earlier Tuesday morning caused damage to structures across Kentucky and southern Indiana, including on the University of Kentucky's campus in Lexington.

Governor Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency. He said the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed an EF-1 touched down in Nelson County and an EF-1 struck Anderson County.

The NWS is also surveying storm damage in Mercer County.
