LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Round two of wintry weather is headed our way!

After several inches of snow and sleet across Kentucky and Southern Indiana on Monday, we are geared up for the next round of wintry weather that should arrive Wednesday night and continue until early Friday morning.

With this system the deepest moisture will be off to our southeast so we'll be on the northwestern fringe of things and our overall totals should be less. The area that has the best chance of seeing higher accumulations of snow/sleet/mix is across the southern half of Kentucky, where a Winter Storm Watch is out until 1am Friday morning.

The initial moisture should arrive Wednesday evening, with several waves of energy enhancing the activity around the area as we go into the overnight hours.

Much like with the storm on Monday, we could see some sleet mixing in with any snowfall if some elevated levels of the atmosphere rise slightly above freezing. This would impact our final snowfall totals.

The good news is that it looks like any icing will be minimal and it's entirely possible that we could see just plain rain for a period of time across our far southeastern counties in Kentucky if enough warm air punches in at the surface.

So putting a bow on everything at this point, it appears we could see a 1"-2" snowfall for Louisville metro northward into Southern Indiana, with slightly higher amounts across Southern Kentucky where there will be a bit more moisture. All types of wintry precipitation are in play and even with the lighter amounts, this should be another impactful storm so keep that in mind if you are traveling or commuting.

Once this system moves out, more bitterly cold air will be with over us through the end of the week and start of the weekend. Come Sunday, slightly milder air moves in. A rain chance Sunday evening into early Monday may help to wash away some of the snow still on the ground.
