LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It was a very mild December, where many were able to were short sleeves and shorts many days.
Twenty-seven out of the 31 days in December, high temperatures were warmer than the seasonal average.
There were seven days where highs tapped into the 70s, and three of those days set new daily record highs for Louisville.
Christmas was the warmest day of the month at 75°, just one degree from the all-time warmest temperature for December on record.
Even low temperatures were mild, with 20 out of the 31 days unseasonably warm.
Seventeen of those days, low temperatures were in the 50's or warmer.
The average temperature for the month was 49.9°, making it the third warmest on record. This is 10.3° above the seasonal monthly average temperature for December.
The warmest December was in 1889, with an average temperature of 51.6°.
The second warmest was in 2015, with an average temperature of 50°.
