Total solar eclipse | Who will be under totality the longest in Indiana?

Every town in the path of totality across Indiana will have a different number of seconds of darkness, determined by how close to the center of the path they are.

INDIANA, USA — The 2024 total solar eclipse comes right over Indiana starting near 3 p.m. EDT (times will vary by a couple minutes based on location). How long will your town be under totality? Or which town should you travel to to see the most amount of totality in the state?

We have a full list of towns and totalities down below.

As we get closer to the eclipse, tap HERE to track clouds with our live interactive satellite.

Who gets totality in Indiana?

The black swath on the map shows the path for totality, where you will see the moon completely block the sun, exposing on the corona which will be safe to view without glasses once totality begins. The yellow lines show the outer edge of totality. The closer you are to the middle, the longer totality will last.

Something to watch

Those who are close to the edge of totality (yellow lines) will still get some decent totality durations. Those within 10 miles of the edge will see a dramatic drop from a minute of totality to no totality at all.

What about southwestern Indiana?

Hoosiers and visitors near Evansville and Vincennes will be the first to see the total solar eclipse. Here is a closer look at the map along I-69.
