High chance for tropical development in the Atlantic

Over the next five days, there is a 70% chance of tropical development.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tropics season is off to an early start. Typically this early on we don't see this much tropical activity. This is an indicator that we are anticipating a busy season ahead.

TROPICAL WAVE

There is a high chance, 70% chance, of tropical development in the Atlantic over the next five days. This means that the tropical wave will likely form here shortly.

TRACK

All models indicate the storm staying south of Puerto Rico and heading towards the Lesser Antilles.

There is no chance that the storm will curve north into the Atlantic and head towards the eastern United State. If this storm forms, it will be heading into the Caribbean Sea.

STRENGTH

There are little factors acting against the tropical wave and if it develops some show the chance to strengthen into a hurricane.

It is too far out to say since the low pressure hasn't fully developed yet. We will be keeping our eyes on the storm.
