LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A batch of thunderstorms are approaching Kentucky and Indiana. From 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. EDT we will see heavy rain with the chance of the storms turning severe.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the counties highlighted below. This mean it is likely to see severe storms over the next few hours. The main impact will be damaging winds.
There is a level 2/5 risk for severe storms west of Louisville. The risk is a step lower for those residing east of town. The main threat will be damaging winds with these approaching storms. We can't rule out an isolated spin-up tornado in the line of storms.
By this point, flooding may become a concern since the ground will already be well saturated. Heavy downpours are expected with the batch of storms. The threat will come to an end before sunrise Friday.
