LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A winter weather advisory has been issued for portions of the WHAS11 viewing area.
The advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
This is a forecast where things can change in a hurry, and the snow potential has increased quite a bit since yesterday.
Totals of 1-3 inches will be possible. Higher totals will also be possible, though confidence is low on where that will occur. Current thinking is likely south of Louisville as of this update. Given temperatures near/above freezing, it would be a wet, heavy, slushy snow. Ground and road temperatures are relatively warm, so that should hopefully mitigate impacts, but snow may fall heavily enough to overcome these warm temperatures and begin accumulating.
Plan on slippery road conditions that could impact the commute Tuesday morning.
On Monday, the National Weather Service dropped the advisory for several counties in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky. The counties still under the watch include:
Kentucky
- Anderson
- Bourbon
- Boyle
- Clark
- Franklin
- Gerrard
- Grayson
- Hardin
- Harrison
- Henry
- Jessamine
- Larue
- Madison
- Marion
- Mercer
- Nicholas
- Nelson
- Scott
- Spencer
- Trimble
- Washington
- Woodford
