'This is where his home is': Iconic moose head finds new home in Louisville

Joe Kresovsky also said it was difficult to choose a music venue because "they are all fantastic!"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The search is over; the Phoenix Hill Tavern Moose has found a new home.

According to a post on social media, Joe Kresovsky announced the Frazier History Museum would be housing the iconic moose head.

He said the museum plans to develop an exhibit telling the history of various Louisville neighborhoods, and the moose will be the center piece for the Phoenix Hill section.

Kresovsky also said it was difficult to choose a music venue because "they are all fantastic!"

"The moose is no longer on the loose and we are thrilled to be his adoptive home at the Frazier History Museum," President Andy Treinen said. "This is what Cool Kentucky is all about. Items that mean something to our community and our ability to display them, like the iconic ear X-tacy sign."

He went on to thank the family for their generosity.

Joe and Lee Kresovsky have owned the moose for the last eight years when they paid $1,500 for the mount in an auction.

"We got to perform [at Phoenix Hill Tavern]; we had an album release party…we just had to own the moose," Joe said.

The moose has hung on the living room wall at the Kresovsky home for nearly a decade, nearly 50 years of memories hanging with it.

However, the family is moving to North Carolina, and they wanted to leave the moose in Louisville because "this is where his home is."
