LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Burger lovers, it’s that time of year again!
The Kentucky Derby Festival is looking to crown its 2025 Derby Burger Champion.
If you love cooking and creating unique flavors, KDF wants participants to submit their best beef burger recipes using Dan-O’s seasonings and greens and/or herbs from 80 Acres Farms sold in Kroger stores.
The burgers are judged on taste, appearance, creativity and ease of preparation.
The contest window is open from Oct. 22 through Jan. 31, 2025.
KDF will choose eight preliminary finalists for a public vote on their website and then will be narrowed down to a final cook-off in March in front of judges.
The winner will have their recipe featured in Louisville area Kroger stores and showcased on the KDF and Kentucky Beef Council’s websites and social channels.
They will also walk away with a prize pack that includes two VIP tickets to the Thunder Over Louisville VIP Party and Republic Bank BourbonVille.
Stacy Hoehle took home top honors in this year's contest with her P.L.T. Burger which featured fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese and a remoulade sauce.
